I am an Otolaryngologist-Head and Neck Surgeon practicing in Oshawa since July, 2013. I am the Head of the Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Lakeridge Health Corporation since January 2018.

I have obtained my Medical Degree at  Yerevan State Medical University in Armenia. After moving to Canada, I spent several years as a research fellow at the Hospital for Sick Children working with Dr. Christopher Forrest at the Division of Plastic Surgery, University of Toronto. My research of this period has been acknowledged by many awards, including the Bernd Spiessl Research Grant Award of the Maxillofacial Surgeons Foundation and the Lyndon Peer Research Fellowship Award in Cleft Lip and Palate / Craniofacial Reconstruction from the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation. During this time, I obtained a Master of Science degree from the Institute of Medical Science, University of Toronto.

I subsequently undertook residency training in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Toronto, graduating in 2012. I have had the opportunity to work with and learn from many leaders of the field in Canada and the world, which shaped me as an Otolaryngologist – Head and Neck Surgeon.

After residency, I did a clinical fellowship in Advanced Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery with Professor Wytske Fokkens, a worldwide recognized authority on sinonasal disorders at the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The fellowship advanced my knowledge of nose and sinus diseases, such as allergic and non-allergic rhinitis, acute and chronic rhinosinusitis, cystic fibrosis, nasal valve and aesthetic nasal problems, benign tumors of the nose and sinuses, as well as tumors of the pituitary gland and skull base, which can be endoscopically removed through the nose.

After completing the fellowship, I have opened my practice at the Oshawa Clinic. I have operating priviledges at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. I am an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Family Medicine Department of Queen’s University, and an Adjunct Clinical Lecturer at the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, University of Toronto.

I am a member of multiple professional organizations, including the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Canadian Society of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, American Rhinologic Society and European Rhinologic Society.

My clinical interests include diseases of the nose and sinuses, thyroid and parathyroid surgery. My research interests involve medical and surgical treatment of the sinusitis, rhinitis and nasal obstruction. You can read more about my research here.

I have been involved with volunteering for over 18 years. I spend all my free time with family and cycling.
