Dear visitor,
There is not a single person whose family has not been affected by cancer. Cancer will affect up to 40% of us. My own family has been affected as well.
As an Otolaryngologist – Head and Neck Surgeon, I diagnose many head and neck cancers every year. I operate on many patients with thyroid cancer. For many of my other patients, I am the first one to diagose the cancer, have the unfortunate privilege to give them the bad news, and to direct them to care at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Sunnybrook Health Science Centre or Durham Regional Cancer Centre. My family has received care at these 3 cancer centres as well.
By raising funds through the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, I am hoping to have a way of giving more than just bad news to my patients. It is my way of giving back to them, and supporting advancements in cancer research.
Cycling for over 220 km in two days is a small feat compared to the battle cancer patients fight every day.
